MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – This 7 days, supporters of Booker T. Washington Magnet Substantial Faculty for the visible and executing arts celebrated the development of the new Bell Street campus.
“The whole vary of arts schooling is so critical for the perfectly-rounded enhancement of citizens. So we’re pretty, pretty enthusiastic. And this is a celebration,” explained Jeanne Charbonneau, president of the Friends of Arts Magnet Education.
Charbonneau is also mom of BTW alum Albert Allenback.
“He graduated in 2012, and he is a professional musician out of New Orleans, and he is Grammy-nominated,” claimed Charbonneau.
The piano magnet application at BTW has opened up a complete new world for 10th grader Kai Lavender.
“It makes it possible for me to express myself in a diverse way other than singing and dancing,” claimed Lavender.
BTW college students have been meeting at the Previous Hayneville Road Elementary College creating considering that a fire at the initial campus in 2018. This week, stakeholders bought a first look at the plans as progress is created at the new Bell Highway campus.
“The renderings are surreal, spectacular. This is likely to be one of the greatest colleges in the condition of Alabama in regards to facilities,” stated Quesha Starks, principal of BTW.
Starks suggests the overall local community has built this a truth.
“This is not just Booker T. Washington Magnet Superior University opening. This is the local community school. Each individual faculty and MPS will advantage from this application as well as BTW college students. So this is a celebration of neighborhood,” said Starks.
The new campus is envisioned to open its doors in the slide.
As for the former BTW campus along Union Street, there is do the job becoming done to completely transform it into the new central office environment for MPS. The estimated time for move in is early next summer.
